Yes. Miles4Migrants stands in solidarity with those impacted by the unjustified and unprovoked Russian attacks on Ukraine. Our team is actively booking flights for Ukrainians to get from temporary housing in border countries to longer-term homes in other locations. Miles4Migrants works through our network of charity partner organizations who identify individuals in need of flight assistance, verify that the case meets the parameters of our mission and that the person has legal permission to travel, and submit flight requests to our team. We are currently unable to support flight requests that do not come in through one of our approved partner organizations.

Over the next few months, we expect an increased number of flight requests to come in and are accepting donations to help fund these flights. Any donations raised through miles, points, or cash will go toward booking flights for Ukrainians in need of flight assistance, as well as for other refugee communities that Miles4Migrants continually supports. Right now, our most-needed programs are Southwest, United, Delta, and Air Canada.

Miles4Migrants is aware of the dangers many are facing in Afghanistan and that people are desperately trying to leave the country.

Please visit this link for information provided by the Evacuate Our Allies Operations Center. It provides the most current updates regarding Afghanistan and the known resources available to assist those still in the country. Check the link regularly for updates.

Right now, many Afghans have escaped the danger and uncertainty of Taliban rule; however, they still remain short of starting their new beginnings. Unable to afford transportation to their final destinations, tens of thousands of Afghans are temporarily housed on military bases across the U.S., awaiting reunions with their family members and transportation to safe homes.

Miles4Migrants has stepped up to assist the U.S. government in relocation efforts, booking flights for Afghans to get out of limbo and go onward to their new homes across the country. Once granted humanitarian parole and ready to fly to their new homes in the U.S., evacuees are often referred to Miles4Migrants. Our Booking Team works to quickly secure them tickets for flights from U.S. military bases to their final destination.

Since August, Miles4Migrants has assisted nearly 20,000 Afghan evacuees in reaching their final destinations, using 200 million+ miles and $800,000+ (numbers that are climbing by the day). From 8 military bases, Afghan evacuees have been booked on flights to arrival cities all across the country, where they are now beginning to build their new lives.

Donated airline miles and points are used solely for travel related to flight requests received from Miles4Migrants’ nonprofit partners who are requesting flights for refugees, asylum-seekers, and/or asylees who meet our mission. Due to the restrictions noted above, miles donated to Miles4Migrants cannot be used by individuals or groups of people with travel needs that are not within the scope of our mission.

Miles4Migrants fosters relationships with other nonprofits that are working ‘on the ground’ to serve refugees and asylum-seekers directly. Our nonprofit partners, both across the world and within the United States, submit requests for flight assistance to Miles4Migrants. We do not have the capacity to vet flight recipients’ finances to ensure financial need, nor do we specialize in the administrative and legal work required to ensure each flight recipient is authorized to enter their resettlement country. This is where our nonprofit partners come in – each partner is responsible for vetting flight recipients to ensure they have the necessary legal approval and documents to travel to (or, in the case of those released at the US-Mexico border or from immigration detention and legally seeking asylum in the United States, within) their resettlement country. We do not accept flight requests submitted directly from individuals without a nonprofit partner acting as an intermediary. A list of our nonprofit partners is included on our NGO partner page.

We accept miles and points from most major airline and credit card programs. Miles4Migrants partners directly with the following airlines, allowing you to transfer your miles directly into Miles4Migrants pooled accounts:

  • Delta Air Lines
  • United Airlines
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Alaska Airlines

Other commonly used miles/points:

  • Southwest Airlines
  • Flying Blue (Air France and KLM)
  • American Express Membership Rewards
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • Capital One Rewards

If you donate miles with United, Delta, Air Canada Aeroplan, Alaska or JetBlue once you’ve donated you’re all done!

If you pledge miles/points with any other programs, you will be contacted by a member of the Miles4Migrants donor engagement team to better explain the process and answer any questions you have. You can also watch this video for a more in depth explanation of the booking process.

Your pledge will then be in our queue allowing the flight booking team to match it with an incoming travel request from one of our partners. Miles4Migrants works with partner NGO organizations to identify family reunification cases to support. Once a partner brings us an approved case in need of airfare, our flight booking team works to identify the best award flight options, and then matches the flight with a donor who has pledged the corresponding number of miles to the associated airline reward program. As the volume of flight requests varies, your donated miles may be needed within a matter of weeks, but it is likely that it could take much longer for your specific program/donation amount. We appreciate your patience.
